Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series

PENALTY REPORT: Suspensions Issued to Garrett Smith and Scot Smith

The Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series, DIRTcar Racing and World Racing Group have all issued penalties to driver Garrett Smith and his car owner Scot Smith following multiple incidents and an altercation during the June 3 Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series event at Cochran Motor Speedway in Cochran, Ga.

During the night’s qualifying session, Scot Smith entered another team’s pit area and confronted one of the team’s crew members. Following the incident, Scot Smith, as the car owner for Garrett Smith, was warned by series officials that any further aggressive actions taken by him, his driver, or anyone on the race team would result in punitive actions taken by the series.

On lap 15 of the night’s 50-lap feature, the No. 10 of Garrett Smith was involved in an incident on the racetrack that resulted in his car being stopped on the track facing the wrong direction. Per the series’ no-fault caution rule, Smith was charged with the caution and sent to the rear of the field.

During the caution period, Scot Smith verbally assaulted and physically struck a Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series official before being restrained by other series and track officials. He also attempted to tear down the series' victory lane banner. Garrett Smith was immediately disqualified from the race. Below are the resulting penalties issued by the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series.

First, Scot Smith and any race car or race team owned by Scot Smith has been suspended indefinitely from all Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series-sanctioned events as well as any events operated by HTF Promotions LLC. Additionally, Scot Smith is fined $3,000. The fine is to be paid in full before his reinstatement is considered, which can be applied for one year from the date of the incident.

As for Garrett Smith, he has been suspended for 90 days from all Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series-sanctioned events as well as any events operated by HTF Promotions LLC.

Additionally, the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series is formally banning the consumption of alcoholic beverages by any crew members of a race team participating in a series event while the event is ongoing.

As a DIRTcar sanctioned series, any actions by a driver, car owner, or team member during Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series events are subject to penalties by DIRTcar Racing and its parent company World Racing Group, owner of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. As such, these penalties apply to any WRG racing series or event, including the World Of Outlaws, Summer Nationals, the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series, the Iron-Man Series and the Mars DirtCar Series.
