Hunt the Front Series Championship Weekend Shifts to Swainsboro Raceway

Third Annual Hunt the Front Southern Showcase to Feature $5,000-to-win Event on Friday, Oct. 6 & $23,000-to-win Series Finale on Saturday, Oct. 7

MILTON, Fla. (Aug. 30) — The championship weekend for the inaugural season of the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series presented by Sweet Victory Apparel Co. is changing venues.

The third annual Hunt the Front Southern Showcase will wrap up the HTF tour’s first season Oct. 6-7 at Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, Ga., with a $5,000-to-win program on Friday, Oct. 6 and the tour’s $23,000-to-win season finale on Saturday, Oct. 7.

Moving the doubleheader weekend to Swainsboro gives the HTF Series its second and third events of the season at the J.J. Williams-owned racetrack. The tour contested a $10,000-to-win show at Swainsboro on May 19 that produced five lead changes among four drivers before Carson Ferguson of Lincolnton, N.C., took command on his way to his lone series victory of the season.

Along with featuring a total of $28,000 in race winner payouts, the Southern Showcase weekend at Swainsboro will also decide the HTF tour’s hotly contested points battle. Josh Putnam of Florence, Ala., currently leads the chase for the $20,000 champion’s share of a more than $50,000 total series points fund. Joseph Joiner of Milton, Fla., is just eight points behind Putnam in second, while Wil Herrington of Hawkinsville, Ga., is only another 18 points back in third.

The Southern Showcase was originally planned to be held at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, Ala., for the second straight year, but unforeseen circumstances with the track forced series officials to seek an alternative venue. Payton Freeman of Commerce, Ga., earned a $22,000 victory in the second annual Southern Showcase at Deep South in 2022, while Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga., claimed a $20,000 victory in the inaugural running of the event at Southern Raceway in Milton, Fla., in 2021.

Complete event details for the 2023 version of the Southern Showcase, including plans for support division action, will be released in the coming days.

As with all Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series events, the Southern Showcase weekend will stream live exclusively at www.huntthefront.tv. Visit www.swainsbororaceway.com for more information on Swainsboro Raceway and www.htfseries.com for more information on the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series.
