Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series

Veteran racer Jeff Smith commits to Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series in 2024

Veteran driver Jeff Smith has decided to take another turn at following a regional racing series. The 58-year-old son of legendary hall-of-famer Freddy Smith, the stalwart with regional tours in the Carolinas will chase the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series this season.

Smith, of Dallas, N.C., joins the second-year series as a prolific regional racer, spending much of the last two decades competing with the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series and the Ultimate Southeast Series, most recently in 2021 when he registered a runner-up finish in the Carolina Clash points and a third-place finish in Ultimate Series points.

The embodiment of a regional racer, Smith, who won the 2009 Carolina Clash Series championship, has finished in the top five in Clash Series points 12 times while finishing in the top five in Ultimate Series points six times. On seven occasions Smith has been a series bridesmaid, finishing runner-up in Clash points five times and runner-up in Ultimate Series and Southern All Stars once each. He has 31 career Carolina Clash victories; two career Ultimate Late Model Series wins; and two career Southern All Star wins.

The 1994 Xtreme DirtCar Series Rookie of the Year has victories on both the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (2007) and the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series (2009). Both victories with the national tours came at Fayetteville (N.C.) Motor Speedway, his home track where he’s a two-time champ. The 2005 SAS-sanctioned March Madness at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, S.C., is among the the five-figure paydays for Smith, who enters 2024 following a one-win, nine top-five season last year.
